A little about us

The Lisbon Rheumatology Clinic (CRL) has existed since 1999, resulting from the initiative of a group of Rheumatologists from the Portuguese Institute of Rheumatology.

Initially dedicated only to Rheumatology Consultations, the Clinic grew and adapted its responses to the needs of the Patient, currently providing a global, integrated and complete approach to the pathologies of the locomotor system.
In terms of diagnosis and targeted therapeutic approaches, it has a Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Sector, which allows it to collaborate in the diagnostic evaluation, but also in specific, eco-guided therapeutic gestures.
Still within the scope of the diagnostic approach, reference to the possibility of their patients undergoing neurophysiology exams (Electroneuromyography), which are fundamental in the diagnosis and therapeutic decision.
However, CRL also offers consultations from other Specialties that meet the expectations and needs of rheumatic patients. In fact, in the course of its evolution, it may be necessary to approach the surgical specialties that border Rheumatology (Orthopedics and Neurosurgery). On the other hand, despite affecting primarily the locomotor system, rheumatic diseases can involve other organs, and the rheumatic patient often needs an integrated view of his various systemic pathologies (provided by Internal Medicine), or an assessment of their neurological repercussion. (Consultation Neurology), psychic (Consultations of Psychiatry and
Psychology). Complementary but fundamental aspects assessments for the rheumatic patient, such as
foot pathology (provided by the Podiatry Consultation) or overweight (Nutrition Consultation), complete the range of therapeutic offers provided by the CRL. The Clinic also has specialized Nursing, available to administer injectable parenteral form, various therapeutic options for rheumatic diseases that require it.
For all these reasons, we can affirm that with more than 20 years of experience in approaching the Rheumatic Patient, CRL today provides a comprehensive, complete and quality service in the area of Rheumatology.

All of this in an environment of proximity, contact and personalized treatment, in which we try to make each Patient feel the comfort and effectiveness of an individualized and total approach, always with a well-defined final objective - to help our Patients to overcome in the most effective way and as quickly as possible the consequences of Rheumatic Diseases. Because pain and disability are a constant mark of these diseases, but not an inexorable fatality, CRL exists to provide you with a happier, more functional and more optimistic day of tomorrow!
